Eleven Sports will broadcast German championship this season

Eleven Sports had already agreed to buy the rights to the Bundesliga for Portugal for the next two years, but managed to win another year and this season will be broadcast in Portugal by Eleven Sports.

Eleven Sports had struck a deal to broadcast the German league in Portugal for two seasons, starting next year. But this Tuesday, August 21, announced that "the contract has been extended to start this season," according to the statement sent to the newsrooms.

The German championship will start this Friday, August 24, thus increasing to three the number of seasons of the German league that will be transmitted by Eleven Sports in Portugal.

This sports content distributor entered the national market this year, with the official launch on 15 August with the launch of the first channel. The company, which is present in 11 territories, chose Nowo to distribute its contents in Portugal. The negotiations of the expansion of its channels to other operators are being carried out by the old Cabovisão.

This year, Eleven Sports surprised everyone by announcing that it had bought Champions League rights for Portugal, and later announced that it has won the rights to the Spanish, French, German leagues (starting in 2019), among others.

Eleven Sports has hired UEFA's former director of communications, Pedro Pinto as a non-executive director.
